Reports: Lions to sign former Broncos WR Tim Patrick
Dec 19, 2021; Denver, Colorado, USA; Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (81) celebrates his touchdown reception in the third quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals at Empower Field at Mile High Mandatory Credit: Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports Veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick will sign with the Detroit Lions after he did not make the Denver Broncos' initial 53-man roster Tuesday, DenverSports.com and ESPN reported.
Patrick is expected to join the Lions' practice squad and work his way onto their active roster, according to ESPN.
Patrick, 30, was a former starter for Denver but has not played since 2021 after suffering multiple injuries. He tore his ACL during a training camp practice in 2022 and then tore an Achilles in July 2023.
In 55 games (37 starts) for the Broncos from 2018-21, Patrick hauled in 143 catches for 2,009 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The Lions were searching for receiver depth behind starters Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. They cut veteran Donovan Peoples-Jones as they brought their roster down to 53 players.
